I build the systems
a startup runs on from zero.

I'm Sigurdur an engineer who takes data-capture, automation and real-time control from a blank repo to production infrastructure a whole company depends on. At CyanoCapture I built and led the engineering function from scratch; the platform I shipped ran 10 automated experiments a day, 24/7.

Data-Capture & Control Platform

The full-stack system the company operated on

Real-time capture, storage and closed-loop control for photobioreactor experiments the backbone the whole lab ran on. I architected it end-to-end: device firmware, an MQTT ingestion layer, time-series storage, a FastAPI service layer, and containerised deployment on GCP.

Measurement, Verification & Reporting

Cloud reporting system funded by Google for Startups

A Google Cloud system to measure, verify and report experimental outcomes turning raw platform data into trustworthy, auditable results the business could act on and share. Won Google for Startups cloud funding to build it.

Oscillation-Control Algorithm

Real-time closed-loop controller

A closed-loop controller that automatically maintains and maximises system oscillation, running on a 250 Hz acquisition pipeline with 10 ms response times. High-frequency instrumentation and control where timing is the hard part.

Samey · PLM / BOM System

PLM Bill-of-Materials Platform

Client delivery sole engineer

A PostgreSQL system for a manufacturing client that ingests their PLM/PDM bills of materials, lets them assemble a sellable Solution, and produces a combined multi-level BOM that stays financially accurate for a 10-year lifetime. The hard part is integrity: financials are snapshotted at quote time so a job priced today never drifts when part costs change years later enforced by regression tests, upsert-only ingest, and versioned migrations with CI.

About

Engineer who ships the whole stack

I like the messy, ambiguous part of an early startup where there's no platform yet, the requirements shift weekly, and someone has to build the thing the whole team will depend on. That's the work I've done twice now: CyanoCapture (seed-stage, ~15 people), where I built and led engineering from zero, and Hydram Research (pre-seed), where I built high-frequency instrumentation and real-time control.

My range runs from byte-level firmware and PCB design up through MQTT pipelines, time-series storage and cloud deployment. That end-to-end ownership is what I bring to a founding-engineer seat: I can take a product from a whiteboard to something that runs, unattended, in production.
